Intended Use

For isolation and enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water samples.

Principle and Interpretation

Peptone provide nitrogen; glycerol carbon source; potassium and magnesium can promote green pus pigment production; hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide is a selective antibacterial agent, as a quaternary ammonium salt cationic detergent may bacterial cells release nitrogen and phosphorus and suppress non-Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria; agar is medium coagulant.

Formulation

Ingredients	/liter
Pancreatic digest of peptone	20.0g
Magnesium chloride	1.4g
Dipotassium sulfate	10.0g
Cetrimide	0.3g
Agar	13.6g
pH7.2±0.2 at 25°C

Preparation

Suspend 45.3 g/l. Add 10 ml glycerol/l. Autoclave (15 min at 121 °C).

2-30℃，Keep container tightly closed, avoid direct sunlight.

Use before expiry date on the label.

1. When weighing the dehydrated medium, please wear masks to avoid causing respiratory system discomfort

2. Keep container tightly closed after using to prevent clumping.

Waste Disposal

Microbiological contamination was disposed by autoclaving at 121°C for 30 minutes.
