Intended Use

For isolation and detection of Pseudomonas species.

Principle and Interpretation

Peptone supplies essential nutrients in this medium. The specific reaction of the pigment with the corresponding enzyme of Pseudomonas shows a blue-green color. Agar is a solidifying agent.

Formulation

Ingredients	/liter
Peptone	20.0g
Salts	8.0g
Chromogenic mix	2.5g
Agar	15.0g
pH 7.5±0.2 at 25°C

Preparation

Suspend 45.5g in 1 L distilled or deionized water. Heat with frequent agitation and boil to completely dissolve the powder. Cool to 45-50°C and pour into sterile Petri dishes.

Quality Control

Cultural characteristics after18-24 hours at 36±1°C.

Storage and Shelf Life

The dry powder should be stored in a sealed container at 2-30°C in a cool, dry place away from sunlight for two years, The prepared plates can be stored at 2-8°C for one week.
